Welcome to fall, Signers! Check out the sign for this season and a few extra example sentences at this link.
My two-year-old and I will be at the Parents’ Center in Northampton this Wednesday morning performing classic songs in sign. Circle time starts around 11am, but feel free to come earlier and play. It opens at 9. Itsy Bitsy Spider, Wheels on the Bus, Row Row Row Your Boat, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star are just a few of the rock anthems we’ll transform with our hands.
I’m very excited to have the opportunity this coming Saturday to attend an all day (I mean, ALL DAY – 8:30am-10pm!) immersion workshop in American Sign Language outside of Boston at an organization called D.E.A.F. Inc. to further my knowledge of this beautiful language. No voices. Thirteen and a half hours. Wish me luck!
This week in class:
Some folks were interested in food signs, so we’ll be jumping into all those goodies this week, plus a few other things to get us jazzed – (Your groovy little ones deserve to learn the sign for “dance!”) If your baby is eating any solids, please, bring some of their food to class on Thursday!!
For story time, I’ll be reading Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar in honor of our food words. If any of you have a copy at home and want to bring it with you to read along with Baby close up, please do.
So, what’s the consensus on changing to Tuesdays after this session? I thought I was hearing a no, keep Thursdays majority. Is that right? Please email and let me know.
I ordered those flashcard sets for those who wanted them. They will likely not be in by Thursday, but definitely for the following week. What I should have by class time this week is more DVDs if anyone needs a single or a set.
And, finally, do me a huge favor if you are on social media and hit that like button on Facebook for Start with Sign!
Feel free to write at any time if you’d like to be taken off the email list.
That’s it for now. Keeeeeeeeep Signing!
